Harry Crane Played by Rich Sommer

Mad Men Season 5 Rich Sommer Harry Crane

Harry Crane is the Head of Media at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce advertising agency; he held the same post at the original Sterling Cooper. His wife Jennifer, with whom he has one child, works at a phone company. While still at Sterling Cooper, Harry has a one-night stand with Hildy, Pete Campbell 's  secretary. Jennifer kicks him out of the house for his infidelity, but the two eventually reconcile.

Harry's initial promotion comes when he proposes that the cosmetics client Belle Jolie sponsor a controversial episode of The Defenders. Although the company declines, Harry suggests to Roger Sterling that Sterling Cooper follow the lead of other agencies and establish a department devoted solely to television; Roger agrees and puts Harry in charge.

At SCDP, Harry places ads on popular television shows like Peyton Place and The Beverly Hillbillies and has access to freebies like tickets to the closed-circuit broadcast of Cassius Clay-Sonny Liston boxing rematch (which he sells to his coworkers). Harry occasionally flaunts his connections to stars and producers, though doing so sometimes backfires.
