Colm Meaney as Thomas ‘Doc’ Durant
In Hell on Wheels, Colm Meaney stars as Thomas “Doc” Durant, a greedy entrepreneur taking full advantage of the changing times.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Colm Meaney, is perhaps best known for his role as Chief Operating Officer Miles O’Brien on the television series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Most recently, Meaney finished shooting the film, The Occult, opposite Rufus Sewell and the independent British features Hot Potato and Whole Lotta Sole. He also spent time in Spain producing and starring in The Perfect Stranger. Additional films include Parked, a film that garnered Meaney a Best Actor nomination for an Irish Film Award, The Conspirator, Bel Ami, Get Him To The Greek, The Damned United and the hit film Law Abiding Citizen.
Meaney has successfully bridged the gap of starring in large studio films such as Con Air, Mystery, Alaska, Under Siege and Far and Away, to highly acclaimed independent films such as Layer Cake, Into The West and Monument Avenue to name a few. Meaney won Best Actor at the Newport Beach Film Festival and received yet another Best Actor nomination at the Irish Film Awards for his work in the indie films How Harry Became a Tree and King’s, Ireland’s 2008 official Academy Award entry.
Meaney also returned to the stage starring in several plays including: Moon for the Misbegotten with Kevin Spacey in London and New York; The Cider House Rules for which he won an OBIE Award; and Juno and the Paycock.
