Cheryl Hines

Cheryl Hines is a two-time Emmy nominee for her role as Cheryl David on HBO’s Golden Globe Award-winning series Curb Your Enthusiasm, the brainchild of Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld. The show has been nominated for numerous Emmy Awards including Best Supporting Actress for Cheryl, Best Actor for Larry and Best Comedy Series. The show recently aired its sixth and final season on HBO. She recently completed filming a starring role opposite William H. Macy in the independent feature Bart Got a Room. Directed by Brian Hecker, the comedy centers on a nerdy high-school senior trying to find a date to the prom while his parents’ marriage is falling apart.

This past December Cheryl made her feature film directorial debut with the indie Serious Moonlight, from a screenplay written by the late Adrienne Shelly. The film is a dark comedy centered on the troubled marriage of a high-powered female attorney (played by Meg Ryan) who learns that her husband (Timothy Hutton) is about to leave her for another woman and prevents him from doing so by binding him to the toilet with duct tape. The wife’s plan becomes complicated when the couple’s home is besieged by robbers. Cheryl is currently in post-production, the film will make its debut at an upcoming Film Festival.

Cheryl will be seen this spring co-starring in the indie comedy The Grand, which recently premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. In The Grand Cheryl stars opposite Woody Harrelson, David Cross, Dennis Farina and Ray Romano. The improvised comedy is set in the world of professional poker and was filmed entirely in Las Vegas.

Cheryl will also be seen co-starring in the 2008 Sundance hit Henry Pool Was Here for writer Albert Torres and director Mark Pellington. Hines, who co-stars opposite Luke Wilson, plays a pushy real estate broker who sells Wilson a home. The film is executive produced by Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucceshi for Lakeshore Entertainment. It also stars Adriana Barraza and Radha Mitchell.

Cheryl’s other film roles include starring opposite Keri Russell in the romantic comedy Waitress, which was written, directed and co-starred Shelly. A huge hit at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, the film garnered unprecedented critical acclaim. In the film, Cheryl portrays Becky, a long time waitress who is married to an invalid and longing for some affection and adventure in her life.

Other film credits include the Columbia Pictures comedy RV, starring Robin Williams and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. She also co-starred in the comedy feature Keeping up with the Steins, directed by Scott Marshall, opposite Jeremy Piven.

Cheryl’s other film roles include Walt Disney Pictures feature Herbie: Fully Loaded. Cheryl portrayed Sally, opposite Michael Keaton and Lindsay Lohan as Keaton’s love interest.

Cheryl has broadened her experience in television to include producing and voice over. She was the executive producer on the critically acclaimed improvised and award-winning comedy series Campus Ladies for the Oxygen Channel. The comedy series centered on two housewives in their 40s who decide to go to college and live in the freshman dorms. Cheryl directed several episodes as well.

In addition to producing Campus Ladies, Cheryl is currently in production as executive producer on the Starz Network’s first original comedy series Hollywood Residential, premiering on Jan. 23rd. The show follows a fictional, faltering celebrity home makeover show on a struggling home improvement cable network. Cameras follow as frustrated, under achieving actor, played by Adam Paul, and his sexy, new co-host takes their show to the homes of Hollywood celebrities. Paul has more on his mind than home improvement and tries to take advantage of his clients to further his own acting career, always to embarrassing results. Hollywood Residential will feature appearances by Paula Abdul, Jamie Kennedy, Tom Arnold, John Cho, Chris Kattan, Carmen Electra and Beverly D’Angelo and Hines herself.

Cheryl was also handpicked by Jeffrey Katzenberg as the lead voice in DreamWorks Television’s primetime animated series, Father of the Pride, an innovative comedy that aired on NBC. The Shrek-like CGI cartoon was about a family of white lions who work as performers in the Las Vegas act of illusionists Siegfried & Roy.

As a member of The Groundlings Theater, Cheryl has spent a great deal of time writing and performing sketch and improvisational comedy. This experience made her feel very at home with the improvised dialogue format of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Earlier in her career, The Los Angeles Times wrote, “And, in her hilarious ‘One Woman Show,’ Cheryl Hines portrays a surreally untalented solo performer at her self-indulgent worst – a laugh riot for anyone who has ever suffered through the real thing.” Variety concurred with their review, stating, “Cheryl Hines’ ‘One Woman Show’ offers up five of the funniest minutes in any theater anywhere…you will want to watch her onstage for three hours.”

Cheryl resides in Los Angeles with her husband Paul and their daughter Catherine Rose.
