Ken Cosgrove is the Senior Vice President in Charge of Accounts at the Sterling Cooper advertising agency. He originally shared the lead accounts position with Pete Campbell. "They want us to hate each other," Ken says of the rivalry he believes upper management intentionally created. "I refuse to participate in that." Ken's ease with clients eventually wins him the title outright because, as Lane Pryce explains to Pete, "Mr. Cosgrove has the rare gift of making [clients] feel as if they haven't any needs."
A bachelor who likes to flirt, Ken has written two unpublished novels. He becomes the focus of office attention when his short story "Tapping a Maple on a Cold Vermont Morning," is published in the Atlantic Monthly. Though he makes frequent jokes about Peggy Olson’s weight gain during her pregnancy, he supports her copywriting efforts: They work on a number of successful campaigns together, including one for Popsicle.
