Ken Cosgrove is a young account executive climbing his way up the corporate ladder at Sterling Cooper. He is the target of office jealousy when his short story, “Tapping a Maple on a Cold Vermont Morning,” gets published in the acclaimed Atlantic Monthly. Ken relishes any opportunity to make Peggy the “butt” of his jokes. During an office celebration, Ken makes another lewd comment and Pete clocks him square in the jaw.

After hearing about Roger’s second heart attack, the ad men begin to wonder about the future of Sterling Cooper.
